Youth Vote, Youth Voice
Voting this year may look a bit different, but civic engagement is still important, especially for young people! Too often, young people facing homelessness are left out of critical conversations around issues that directly impact their lives. Voting is an empowering way for our kids to reclaim their voices and take a step in their journey towards a more independent life.
In partnership with When We All Vote, Covenant House is able to increase participation in the election this year by providing our young people with the resources they need to make informed decisions. In the past few months, our shelters have held nonpartisan voting education sessions and provided our young people with voter registration information. Our staff has spread awareness about the different options for voting as well as information on federal, state, and local elections.
The next generation of leaders and thinkers are ready to use their voices to create change, and that includes Covenant House youth. See how our young people are getting involved in the election in California, New Jersey and Texas!
