Sleep Out Goes Virtual in 2020
On November 19, thousands of people across North America will give up their beds for one night to ensure that youth facing homelessness can sleep safely at Covenant House. The Sleep Out brings people together virtually for a night of conversation, contemplation, education, story sharing, and fundraising for the young people who need Covenant House during the COVID-19 pandemic. You can Sleep Out from anywhere — a backyard, porch, terrace, garage, kitchen floor, or car, so long as it's safe and legal — and raise urgently needed funds for Covenant House, spread awareness about the youth homelessness crisis, and send a powerful message of solidarity to our youth.
Many of the young people at Covenant House arrive medically neglected, and their bodies bear the scars of life on the streets. Beyond the possible health consequences of the virus, COVID-19 is already wreaking economic and social havoc on our kids’ lives.
Young people facing homelessness are always vulnerable, but never more so than now, amid the pandemic and approaching winter. Your support for Covenant House powers our high-quality programs and services and allows our frontline staff to do their quietly heroic work of keeping our young people safe and loved.
To join the national movement, you can register at sleepout.org www.sleepout.org. Together, we will remind the world that every young person deserves a safe place to sleep.
