Several thousand donors submitted heart-warming Thanksgiving wishes to our young people at Covenant House this Thanksgiving. Those messages were stitched onto over 70 table runners and shipped to over a dozen Covenant House sites as our staff and young people gathered for Thanksgiving meals.“Thanksgiving is a tough time for our young people experiencing homelessness,” said Renata Alexis, senior director of our youth shelter at Covenant House New York.  “We do our best to make Covenant House feel like home, but so many of our young people have experienced so much trauma, and the holidays can be very difficult.

“These beautiful messages of support from so many people brought smiles to the faces of our young people, and also to our staff, who left their own families to spend Thanksgiving at Covenant House with our youth.  On behalf of our young people and our staff, I want to thank each and every person who took the time to send in messages of support over the holidays.  Your support really made a difference.”
